Should You Hire An Attorney For Criminal Defense Cases?

Technically speaking, you can choose to represent yourself in a criminal case. However, we highly advise against this for a number of reasons.

For legal reasons, a judge may not let them introduce certain evidence at trial or an element of the crime charged may be weak. Prosecutors are more likely to acknowledge potential problems in your case if they are brought to their attention by an experienced trial lawyer who has earned their respect.

Inability To Win At Trial

It is very unlikely you can effectively present your case and prevail at trial without a good trial lawyer. All the evidence in your favor does little good if you can’t get it admitted. All the preparation you attempt to do will be for nothing if you don’t understand the legal system and how to predict what will happen at trial.

You wouldn’t go to a professional boxing match thinking you could climb into the ring, throw a lucky punch and walk away with a title belt. The reality is that you would probably walk away in need of medical attention, if you walked away at all.
